A Veterinary Officer, with wildlife experience, is required for a new and exciting project based in the heart of Malawi’s capital city, Lilongwe, to support a Born Free Foundation funded initiative. The Lilongwe Wildlife Centre, in conjunction with the Department of National Parks, is creating a new facility that will not only address issues affecting wildlife but also those that impact on people under a new "People and Wildlife" (PAW) Concept. The project is seeking an independent, self motivating, enthusiastic officer, working under our Chief Veterinary Officer, to help train staff, implement husbandry and veterinary protocols, and help in the establishment of a veterinary clinic. A full job description can be provided on request. The Officer shall also be required to team up with the Lilongwe Society for the Protection and Care of animals (LSPCA) to help support their community days that offer veterinary care and support for domestic animals in the more rural communities of Lilongwe. Experience in Africa is essential, as is a background in wildlife medicine. A commitment to the programme for at least one year is needed although 2 years is preferred, a local stipend, accommodation and flight will be included in the package.
