| The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is offering a six month internship position which will be based in the Threatened Biodiversity Programme, in collaboration with BIOTA, at the Kirstenbosch Research Centre. Applicants should be science students, ideally BSc or BSc Hons graduates in the field of biodiversity science, self motivated and interested in gaining practical experience in research. Enthusiastic students who enjoy working in the field and being part of a team are urged to apply. The intern will assist a SANBI field ecologist in undertaking plant surveys of three fynbos sites in accordance with standard procedures. The sites are Riverlands (near Malmesbury), Elandsberg (near Hermon) and Cape Point (at Olifantsbos). The successful intern will gain valuable experience of the world renowned rich fynbos vegetation including knowledge of many rare species found at the field sites. Processing plant specimens and related data capturing will be part of the intern’s responsibilities.
