| Dyer Island Conservation Trust is seeking to employ a self motivated, energetic person with a passion for marine conservation and the environment to run the trusts offices based in Kleinbaai, Gansbaai. This is an exciting job varying from daily admin & financial tasks, assisting with volunteer programs, networking & PR, organizing conferences & events and includes hands on participation in the trusts conservation initiatives. The Dyer Island Conservation Trust has been established for the conservation, rehabilitation and protection of the natural environment, including flora, fauna or the biosphere, the care of the wild animals, the promotion of, and the conducting of educational and training programs relating to environmental awareness, greening and clean-up projects, and conservation research. General Statement of Duties: Administrative support o Support all aspects of DICT’s administrative functions including: o Office management o Developing and supporting administrative systems o Financial systems including issuing of invoices, overseeing payments, ordering and purchasing, tracking project budgets o Fundraising and marketing o Promotional and public relations work o Filing and report preparation o Note taking and meeting minutes o Sales and database management o Website updates and preparation of newsletters Species conservation o Support DICT’s active role in marine conservation: o Provide support in all aspects of the current conservation projects o Assist with the production of papers, leaflets, handbooks and other information material Administrator o Assist with general enquiries including those by telephone, e-mail, website and written o Occasional attendance or support at meetings, events, conferences, festivals o Support publicity, promotional and media work Essential Skills: o Experience working in an administrative role o Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks o Ability to work in an office environment o General interest in, or appreciation of, marine wildlife and nature conservation Desired Skills: o Experience in supporting and running complex projects o Experience in organising conferences, events and publicity o Professional or voluntary involvement with wildlife conservation o Experience of managing volunteer projects and volunteer involvement o A good understanding and keen interest in seabirds, marine mammals, fish, as well as nature conservation issues in South Africa Please send cover letter and curriculum vitae (not more than three pages) to the following address by 30 June 2009: Michelle Privett E-mail: michelle@privett.co.za Fax: 028 3880782 |
