| A vacancy has opened for the position of Project Co-ordinator at UmPhafa Private Reserve based in Colenso, KwaZulu-Natal. The main responsibility of this role is to formulate, implement and oversee research projects of the inhabiting game species and vegetation in order to obtain relevant data which can be utilised to facilitate key reserve management decisions. You will keep accurate records of all work including the production of detailed scientific reports which you will communicate to colleagues and superiors. You will be responsible for the coordination of the game guards and alien plant control team as well as a team of volunteers from overseas which will be frequently visiting to take part in research activities. Other duties include ensuring the security of the reserve via the maintenance of the perimeter fence and through regular anti-poaching patrols. Essential Minimum degree qualification or equivalent in a biological, zoological or environmental sciences field. Proven experience of undertaking extensive field work in African environments including project design and coordination Proven experience of writing scientific reports Extensive knowledge of a wide range of African flora and fauna including ecology and behaviour as well as unsurpassed identification skills Proven experience of leading research projects of African flora and fauna Proven experience of working within a volunteer orientated organisation in a conservation field at leadership and volunteer level A high level of initiative to solve problems and implement management strategy where necessary Ability to work well alone or as part of a team Excellent communication skill, verbal and written Excellent presentation skills Knowledge of email and Microsoft office packages Competence of 4x4 driving Full Drivers License Fluent English Speaker Desired First aid qualification Experience of building fire breaks and fire fighting Experience of security patrols game-fence checking Ability to maintain and carry out minor mechanical tasks on company vehicles Knowledge of Zulu language or willingness to learn A vacancy has opened for the position of Project Co-ordinator at UmPhafa Private Reserve based in Colenso, KwaZulu-Natal.
