The website of the Flora of Djibouti consists of a searchable database of species names in Afar, Somali and Latin together with reports and associated data from a wide variety of sources, some of which are web based. The database of names is based on the work of Audrun et al. and other material is based on the fine report of the by Hilary and George Welch. Sources are named in the bibliography.

The 2004 expedition to the Goda Massif searched for the Djibouti Frankolin, a rare partridge like bird living in these mountains. This was undertaken by Clive Bealey and Henry Ford with the assistance of Houssein Rayalleh of the Djibouti Government and Houmet Ali from Bankouale. Three papers were presented and the 2005 BES meeting. A second expedition in 2006 determined the causes of death of the Juniper forest, and completed the population survey of the Bankouale Palm. Two MSc Projects by Zomo Fisher and Sam Cartwright of Imperial College, London, on the Francolin and the Forest vegetation, are being completed and we have recently won a Darwin Initiative Scoping Award for the conservation of the Forest as an entity. An expedition funded by the International Palm Society and supported by the Djibouti Palace Kempinski Hotel has just brought back seed for distribution to the Millennium Seed Bank and several Botanic Gardens.
