The Southern African Wildlife Management
Association (SAWMA) is an independent, non-profitable body, founded in 1970. The
association is dedicated to the conservation and wise management of the wildlife
resources of southern Africa.
The Wildlife Management Association's purposes are served through its elected Executive council, an annual symposium, and by the publication of a scientific journal (South African Journal of Wildlife Research) and an annual SAWMA Newsletter.
At present the about 360 individuals, mainly from South Africa, but also various other countries of the world are members of the association. About 100 Institutions subscribe to the hard copy of the South African Journal of Wildlife Research.
