The Mission Statement: of Friends of Tsavo : "To providing a future for Wildlife and in the presevation of Tsavo National parks, by educating and promoting the involvement of the people in conservation undertakings as a means to fostering co-existence and harness of land resource to the prosperity of man & Wildlife". Friend of Tsavo is a registered Charitable Trust set with the objective of conserving Wildlife and in protecting Tsavo National Parks. The approach is by educating and encouraging active involment of the people in conservation undertakings in the Park. They also involve the prime beneficiaries of Wildlife conservation i.e the Tour companies, hotels and lodge operators to contribute towards various conservation projects and in the education of their customers on park rules & regulations. F.O.T is involved in creating and encouraging community involvement in conservation of wildlife by supporting the establishment of Community owned wildlife sanctuary and in in direct benefits accrued from tourism. They have 2 major research undertaking in Tsavo National Parks; 1) The Cheetah. This involves determining the population status in the Tsavo ecosystem, habitat identification; current status and threats. 2) The Hunting Dog, data is to be compiled on the presence of the Hunting Dog, it's movement & location in TsavoNational Park.The project study location base is at Kamboyo HQ in Tsavo West and will be under the auspices of Samuel Adanjee to commence February 2003.
