The primary focus of the Plettenberg Bay Community Environmental Forum ("EF") shall be to concern itself with the total environment (social, economic and natural) and by so doing will always to the best of it's ability:
- Promote the integration of conservation principles into planning processes for development;
- Promote desirable development in keeping with intrinsic environmental features and ecological processes in our area;
- Support a set of principles (read vision) against which developments can be assessed, which principles will promote sound town and environmental planning, long term sustainable economic empowerment and development, protection of the environment and uniting of all communities;
- Foster a positive and pro-active working relationship with the decision makers (Council), and advise and endeavor to influence them to use the above principles when assessing development in the Greater Plettenberg Bay;
- Work closely with all other community structures and ongoing processes (e.g. Structure Plan);
- Follow closely all new environmental legislation and policy;
- Raise funds to cover the ongoing expenses involved in conducting the affairs of the EF;
- Ensure the future development of the natural environment is sustainable and consistent with an agreed vision and the principles of an approved structure plan.
