Art of Conservation
The mission on Art of Conservation (AoC) is to educate Rwandans about conservation and the importance of maintaining a healthy environment for both people and animals while instilling them with an understanding and respect for themselves, their peers, and the natural world.

The project offers school children living in the poor rural communities surrounding Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park a year-long intensive conservation education program in partnership with the children's primary schools. AoC approaches learning through a unique method, using visual, auditory, and performance arts to teach lessons and inspire creativity in its students. While primarily dedicated to teaching children, AoC also reaches out to the local adult population by occasionally supporting workshops that teach environmentally-friendly living and business practices. In all its activities, AoC highlights how people can improve their lives by being conservationists.

AoC exists to address the health conflicts that arise as a result of human and mountain gorilla populations living side by side around Volcanoes National Park. AoC recognizes the interconnectedness and necessity of good health in both populations, and in educating the local people. In partnership with other organizations which attend to the health care of the gorillas and people, AoC seeks to fill the education gap through its activities. On a broader level, AoC aims to create a general awareness and understanding of the many conservation issues affecting Rwanda and the rest of the world.
