Kenya | African Conservation Centre |
The African Conservation Centre (ACC) is a regionally focused conservation organisation dedicated to the conservation of biological resources. ACC's main objectives are to establish a centre of excellence dedicated to forging partnerships to identify and develop the scientific, economic, social and management skills for conservationand to develop a regional institution with global vision and outreach.
Rapid population growth, burgeoning resource consumption and changing land use are destroying habitats and exterminating biodiversity worldwide. East Africa is no exception. Despite devoting a tenth of its land to parks and reserves, much of the region's rich diversity of life falls outside protected areas, where it is poorly documented and highly threatened by humanity.
East Africa's unique assemblage of large vertebrates and diverse plants and animals affords a singular opportunity to understand the interaction of natural and human-dominated ecosystems and develop new conservation solutions with regional and global applicability.
