Nile Transboundary Environmental Action Project is the largest project in the Shared Vision Program of the Nile Basin Society. It provides a strategic framework for environmentally sustainable development of the Nile River Basin and support basin wide environmental action linked to transboundary issues in the context of the NBI Strategic Action Program. The long-term goal of the Shared Vision Program is to create the enabling environment for the Nile riparian's to realize their vision to achieve sustainable socioeconomic development through the equitable utilization of, and benefit from, the common Nile Basin water resources. The project will encourage more effective basin-wide stakeholder cooperation on transboundary environmental issues by supporting the implementation of the actions prioritized by the Transboundary Environmental Analysis, in the following areas:
- Institutional Strengthening to Facilitate Regional Cooperation.
- Community-level Land, Forest and Water Conservation.
- Environmental Education and Awareness.
- Wetlands and Biodiversity Conservation.
- Water Quality Monitoring Basin-wide.
- Monitoring and Evaluation.
