The African Lion Working Group (ALWG) is dedicated to all aspects of conservation, research, and managementof free-ranging lion populations in Africa. Their web site is devoted to the activities of the African Lion Working group and all conservation issues concerning the African lion.
The Lion Working Group, which later became the African Lion Working Group (ALWG), was formed during an AGM of the IUCN Conservation Breeding Specialist Group (CBSG) in October 1999 at Warmbaths, South Africa. Membership is by invitation or recommendation by another member. Only individuals with a scientific background, strong sense of nature conservation with specific reference to the conservation issues of free-ranging African lions.
