BEADS for Education,Advancement, Development and Success (BEADS) works with Maasai groups in environmentally sensitive areas including the migration paths from Nairobi National Park and the Kapiti Plains, Amboseli National Park and the Masai Mara in Kenya.
BEADS promotes environmental conservation through all aspects of education including school sponsorships; school programs raising envrionmental awareness in Kenya; workshops on environmental issues for a variety of groups and organizations in Kenya; support in all aspects of women's groups business initiatives.
Environmental workshops focus on: eliminating fencing along migration routes; reducing pressures on the habitat by reducing livestock herds: promoting the use of stoves instead of chopping indigeneous trees; replanting trees to stem desertification; appreciation of wildlife and its economic value; proper disposal of refuse; alternate forms of income generation.
All of the programs are aimed at raising environmental awareness, reducing pressure on the natural resources and providing a better standard of living.
