Jinja District Wildlife Association (JDWA)
Jinja District Wildlife Association (JDWA) originated in the early 1980s from a rudimentary nature- loving grouping somehow ineffective due to poor social awareness of the mission and was re-organized into its present management in 1996 due to strong administration, financial backing as well as favorable government policy in place which recognizes the catastrophic effect of environmental degradation on the people of Uganda just as in other parts of the world. In seeking to strengthen the roles of and coordination of grass root movements like communities' wildlife and environmental clubs, schools and institutional wildlife clubs and District wildlife clubs, JDWA emerged as the leading organization in Eastern Uganda a part of Uganda Wildlife Clubs. Proportionately, it developed a lot of originality and uniqueness among others. Jinja District Wildlife Association is a voluntary non-profit agency which promotes management, conservation and protection of Uganda’s natural resource, sustainable development and grass-roots based nature conservation activities, working with communities, policy makers and in conjunction.
