National Association of Professional Environmentalists, NAPE
The National Association of Professional Environmentalists (NAPE) is an indigenous and fully registered NGO with the mandate to carry out its activities countrywide. It was founded in 1997 by Professional environmentalists in response to a wide range of environmental problems in the country, which needed serious and urgent attention. NAPE deals in a wide range of environmental activities amongst which the following are included; raising awareness, biodiversity conservation, Fresh water resource management, waste management and lobbying and advocacy. NAPE's Vision : A society where natural resources are used sustainably for the benefit of all humanity. NAPE's Mission : To promote sustainable use of natural resources. Main Objectives:
  • To promote environmental awareness.
  • To enhance community participation in the management of natural resources.
  • To carry out research publication and dissemination of information.
  • To carry out networking, lobbying and advocacy.
  • To promote professionalism in environmental management.
NAPE has carried out various training programmes in districts of Uganda; Kampala, Mukono, Mubende, Pallisa, Mbarara, Busia, Jinja, Masaka and many other districts of Uganda. In recognition of NAPEs activities, we won an award on Earth Day 2000 activities.
