Uganda Biodiversity Network (UBN)
The Uganda Biodiversity Network (UBN) is a country-wide, non political, non profit network of more than 100 active NGOs/ CBOs / CSOs dedicated to coordinating advocacy and lobby work, capacity building within biodiversity conservation and sustainability, community/farmers rights issues and commitments made by world governments towards sustainable development. UBN was registered in 2000 and since its inception the Network has actively participated in Ugandan civil society preparations for the Johannesburg Summit on Sustainable Development under the Uganda coalition for Sustainable Development(UCSD); participated in the Civil Society Environment and Natural Resources Poverty Eradication Action Plan (PEAP) revision process in 2003; is part of other Civil Society preparations as well as the National Organizing Committee for the Ninth Ordinary Conference of Parties of the Ramsar Convention to take place in Kampala in November 2005. UBN is the host NGO for: The Blessing Basket Project, the lead(chair) and host NGO for the Biodiversity/ Forestry National thematic group for the Uganda Coalition for Sustainable Development (UCSD) and the Information centre for the East African Youth coalition for Rio+10 (EAYC).
