Ethiopia | Babille Elephant Sanctuary |
The Babille Elephant Sanctuary (or Harar Wildlife Sanctuary) is one of the largest protected areas in Ethiopia. It is located in the Misraq (East) Hararghe Zone of the Oromia Region, south of Babille.
Encompassing 6,982 square kilometers, the Sanctuary was created to for the conservation of the native elephant sub-species (Loxodonta africana oleansie), and is also home to the black-maned lion, kudu and wild ass.
