Cerget is a non-governmental organization (NGO) created in 1997. It's principal mission is to contribute effectively to the protection and harmonious and durable development of the environment. Therefore Cerget intervenes to:

- Promote the sustainable management of natural resources;
- Conceive and carry out research programs on biodiversity;
- Evaluate the impact of development programs on the environment;
- Support and train the local populations on the principles of sustainable management;
- Direct and coordinate fauna and flora inventories.
