Food and Trees for Africa (FTFA)
Food and Trees for Africa, previously Trees for Africa, has become South Africa's premier non profit greening organisation over the past decade. The organisation started out distributing trees to disadvantaged communities and, being small, dynamic and responsive, moved with the changes in South Africa. Greening activities expanded to include the development of urban greening policy, environmental awareness and education programmes, and the implementation of parks, nurseries and food gardens.

The objectives of FTFA are:
  • to contribute to greening, climate change, sustainable natural resource management and food security;
  • to create an awareness of the benefits of environmental upliftment activities amongst all communities of southern Africa;
  • to contribute to poverty alleviation, improved environments, capacity building and skills development.

FTFA works in partnership with government, the private and public sectors and civil society to improve the quality of life and environments for all communities of the country.
