Frontier is part of the Society for Environmental Exploration, a conservation agency aiming to promote and advance field research and implement practical programmes contributing to the conservation of natural resources. They run conservation expeditions in Africa to Madagascar andTanzania, for volunteers, conducting essential research to inform strategies for the protection of endangered tropical wildlife and habitats and the management of threatened natural resources.The Society for Environmental Exploration (SEE) is an international environmental research and conservation non-governmental organisation (NGO). The Society works in collaboration with tropical developing countries in some of the most valuable and threatened ecosystems in the world. These collaborations between the Society and other institutions form Frontier Expeditions, that are widely advertised. Frontier expeditions initiate baseline data collection and biodiversity research and then participate in the subsequent establishment of long-term monitoring programmes and volunteers take part for 4, 8, 10 or 20 weeks. The 4 week expeditions also go to remote and challenging environments, combining training in expedition and research skills with the conservation of endangered wildlife and threatened habitats. Whilst providing diverse training opportunities, the expeditions also carry out reconnaissance treks to isolated areas to conduct exploratory work for future Frontier programmes. Their motto : "To promote and advance field research and implement practical projects contributing to the conservation of natural resources and sustainable rural livelihoods in East Africa, South East Asia and Central America".
