The African Bird Club is very pleased to report that it has been able to make awards of more than £14,000 to 19 individuals and organisations from the conservation fund in 2008. This represents both a record number and total value of awards in a year.
Since its inception some 10 years ago, around £76,000 has been awarded to over 100 projects in 29 African countries. In recent years, awards have been made for projects in Angola, Djibouti, Eritrea, Libya, Nigeria, Rwanda and Socotra. Perhaps not unexpectedly, there have been larger numbers of awards to countries in East and Southern Africa.
These awards would not have been possible without generous donations from our members and corporate sponsors. A summary of the awards made and some of the project reports can be found here.
