TNRF is a collective civil society-based initiative to improve natural resource management and conservation in Tanzania by addressing fundamental issues of governance. We view the quality and equity of governance as fundamentally determining how natural resources are managed and how they support the livelihoods of Tanzanians and the sustainable economic development of the country.

The TNRF-Secretariat has developed an information pack on the Wildlife Sector as the new Wildlife Conservation Bill is about to be tabled in Parliament. The briefs have been developed as a resource for policy makers and the general public wanting access to independent information on the Wildlife Sector.

Ujamaa Community Resource Trust receives the prestigious Equator Prize!

UCRT - Winner of the Equator Prize 2008!

Ujamaa Community Resource Trust has received the prestigious Equator Prize for its groundbreaking support for community-based natural resource management and rights in Tanzania. As one of 25 such organisations from around the world, the prize will be awarded at the World Conservation Forum in Barcelona, Spain in October 2008. UCRT was selected out of a list of hundreds of grassroots organizations working on sustainable development. Ujamaa Community Resource Trust works with communities in Ngorongoro, Arusha, Mbulu, Simanjiro and Hanang Districts.
