Diep River Estuary Management Plan
On 15 September 2008 the first public meeting about the Diep River Estuary Management Plan was held. At this meeting three technical working groups - water quality, hydrodynamics, and conservation & planning - were set up to take the process further. These technical working groups have now completed their work and the next public meeting will be held on 8 December 2008 in the Blaauwberg Council Chamber, Bridle Way, Milnerton.
Monday 8 December at 18h00 - Blaauwberg Council Chamber
November Newsletter
Our November newsletter has just been emailed and posted to members - a brief resumé of the contents can be seen on our Newsletter page.
Events
We had an interesting walk in the Milnerton Conservation Area on 23 November - read about it and view the pictures in our News section.

Membership
Membership numbers of Friends of Rietvlei seem to be dropping, please encourage friends and neighbours to join up. As a Friends group we need to be vigilant and have our voice heard in various forums – this voice can only be effective if we have a substantial membership to back it. Those of you who have not yet renewed your membership this year, please do so now.
Go to the Contact Us page for membership details - there is also a membership form available.
New Bird Picture Collection
Alex Bond-Smith has very kindly sent us some of his pictures of birds - all photographed on Rietvlei. Have a look at this great new collection on our Picture Gallery Page.
Bulrushes
People have expressed concern about the rapid growth of bulrushes in the Dolphin Beach ponds and also in areas of Rietvlei. Read more about this interesting plant in The Typha take-over, it is in the Rietvlei section of our website.
Fishing in Rietvlei
We often receive enquiries about fishing in Rietvlei, in particular about the rules and regulations. A page on Fishing in Rietvlei has now been added under the Rietvlei section, this has most of the relevant information.
