THE
ALOE, CACTUS AND SUCCULENT SOCIETY OF ZIMBABWE
Founded in March 1969
affiliated to the Zimbabwe National Conservation Trust and the Zimbabwe Scientific
Association


THE OBJECTIVES OF THE SOCIETY ARE:
| a) |
to unite all who wish to foster a wider appreciation and knowledge of
ales, cacti, cycads, palms and succulents
|
| b) |
to promote the extension of members’ collections of aloes, cacti,
cycads, palms and succulents on a disciplined basis and to serve their interests
in this connection.
|
| c) |
to work for the preservation and conservation of the indigenous flora of
Zimbabwe, particularly aloes, cycads, palms and succulents in their natural
habitat, and to collaborate with the appropriate authorities in this regard
|
| d) |
to strive for the re-establishment in botanical gardens, parks or other
areas, of species of aloes, cycads, palms and succulents
threatened by extinction |
| e) |
to carry out and encourage research work on aloes, cycads, palms and
succulents and thereby expand knowledge in this
field.
|
| f) |
to co-operate and liaise with appropriate Government Departments and
bodies to further the aims of the Society.
|
| g) |
to affiliate to any Society having similar objects. |
BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP:
Paid-up members of the Society may participate in all functions of the Society,
including lectures, slide shows, garden meetings, show, demonstrations, films, social function and
expeditions.
Paid-up members receive the bi-annual INGENS BULLETIN, as well as the colour illustrated
biennial journal EXCELSA, the first issue which appeared in 1971 EXCELSA back numbers,
back numbers of THE INGENS
BULLETIN and copies of the EXCELSA TAXONOMIC SERIES are available.

SEED LIST
The seed listed below can be obtained from the seed bank manager, Dave Richards, at
24, Southam Road, Greystone Park, Harare, Zimbabwe. The price per packet is
Z$5,00 for local residents or £0,40 or US$0,60 plus postage and packing which
is now Z$24 for Zimbabwe or £3,00 or US$5,00 per average order. Cash is
acceptable but if a cheque is sent, please add Z$20,00 or US$20,00 for bank
charges and commission.
To keep the seed bank viable, donations of fresh pure
seed or labelled hybrid seed of cactii and succulents are always required. Any
seed collected should be sent to the seed manager at the above address.
