Counter Poaching (anti-poaching) Rangers focus on foot and vehicle patrols, work day and night shifts to secure hot-spot areas, do daily patrols to find and remove poachers snares, setting ambush to apprehend poachers, intelligence gathering, fence line patrols and the maintenance of fences, the supply of water and monitoring of the physical condition of animals in the wildlife reserve. The unit that you will be part of will have direct responsibility for wildlife protection and reserve security.
Skills required:
South African applicants need to be between 23-55 years of age, physically fit males and speak fluent English. You will need at least 12 - 36 months work experience in the field of anti or counter poaching and need to be an avid dog lover as your partner will be a four legged canine.
You will ideally already have your firearms competency and accreditation; failing which you will have to carry the costs to obtain it at your own costs. Successful applicants will be expected to provide their own handgun; semi automatic firearms will be provided.
You will be subjected to a security clearance in order to be placed on our short list of possible candidates to be invited for an interview. Further training in the field of counter poaching will be provided.
Applicants need to be unmarried with no dependents and be willing to sign a 24 month contract. Non-smokers are preferable. A FGASA field guide qualification will be an added bonus and will definitely count in your favor.
Above average remuneration for the successful applicants. Accommodation provided in barracks style.
