Kenya: Leader Climate Change Research, World Agroforestry Centre
Tuesday, 17 June 2008

The World Agroforestry Centre seeks to recruit a world-class researcher to lead its Global Research Project (GRP) on Climate Change.Agricultural systems most vulnerable to climate change are those already affected by unsustainable management, and land and resource degradation. Trees have an important role in reducing vulnerability, increasing the stability of farming systems, and buffering households against climate-related risks. Moreover, whole-landscape carbon accounting (combining REDD, A/R CDM and the gaps in between) may provide a basis fore investment in trees managed by farmers and rural communities.

Madagascar: Biodiversity Informatics/Conservation Planning Specialist, REBIOMA
Wednesday, 11 June 2008
The Reseau de la Biodiversite de Madagascar (REBIOMA) works with the Government of Madagascar to ensure that the best scientific planning for biodiversity conservation is used in marine and terrestrial conservation planning for this biodiversity hotspot region. REBIOMA’s team of international and Malagasy experts are developing and testing a web-based biodiversity information system that is the first in the world to integrate state-of-the-art tools for describing, accessing, geo-referencing, modeling and serving biodiversity data and conservation plans within a single web-based service.  REBIOMA, a joint project of University of California, Berkeley and the Wildlife Conservation Society, is building national capacity to manage biodiversity data and to plan and monitor conservation areas.
