Tanzania: Principal Research Officer, TAWIRI

Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute (TAWIRI) is a Parastatal Organization under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism. TAWIRI has the mandate to conduct, supervise and coordinate wildlife research in the United Republic of Tanzania. The Institute has its Headquarters in Arusha and four Research Centres namely, Njiro Wildlife Research Centre (NWRC) in Arusha, Kingupira Wildlife Research Centre (KWRC) in Selous Game Reserve, Serengeti Wildlife Research Centre (SWRC) in Serengeti National Park, Mahale-Gombe Wildlife Research Centre (MGWRC) in Mahale and Gombe National Parks respectively in Kigoma region.

Somaliland: Soil Erosion and Water Conservation Adviser, Amoud University

The Progressio Development Worker will work alongside Amoud University (AU), supporting the analysis of local people's needs with regards to soil erosion, water conservation and the environment. S/he will work with AU staff and students to research alternative ways of dealing with soil and water conservation in Somaliland. This project will focus particularly on the potential use of Vetiver grass, which has been identified as being a suitable method of tackling the key local environmental problems - namely soil erosion and water conservation.

AWF is recruiting a new Senior Programme Design Officer to lead regional fundraising from public sector sources from its Headquarters office in Nairobi.  The new officer will be responsible for raising funds from government and professional foundation donors and for all aspects of donor relationship management for all AWF’s work in Kenya and neighbouring countries as well as co-responsible for fundraising from specific donors across eastern Africa.  This position will work very closely with the other members of the eight-person Programme Design team, particularly with the Senior Programme Design Officer for Tanzania, with the field based implementation teams and with AWF F&A staff.

The River Conservation Unit (RCU) of CapeNature’s Scientific Services Unit seeks to appoint four Conservation Scientist (aquatic ecologists) for a twelve-month, fixed-term and renewable contract period.  The RCU in partnership with the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry implements the River Health Programme (RHP) in the Western Cape Province.
