EcoAfrica is an organisation that specialises in environmental and social issues and processes in coastal areas. The organisation does considerable work in stakeholder participation and information sharing in coastal areas that are flanked by the Benguela Current, namely Angola, Namibia and South Africa (see: www.dlist-beguela.org) as well as the Western Indian Ocean (WIO) where it will soon be involved in rapid assessments and soliciting input from communities into a Strategic Plan for the WIO region.

IUCN-NL Ecosystem Grants Programme currently supports three projects related to wetland restoration and sustainable use in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and Burundi. These are small grants project (max. 85.000€/3 years). As the involved NGOs have limited experience we are looking for experts that will be able to make a visit to the project sites in order to help the NGOs in developing a restoration plan. These visits should take place within no more than 6 months. Ideally, a second visit should be made a year later to monitor progress. We are willing to cover the costs of these visits.

The Taï Chimpanzee Project works with the chimpanzees of the Taï National Park, Côte d'Ivoire, for over 28 years and is at present following chimpanzees from 4 habituated different communities. Three different camps are used by the students and the field assistants working there. Reasonably comfortable housing is provided at the field site (small house in forest camps, solar power for lights, laptop, and battery charging, but no major appliances, limited running rain water).

Friends of Arabuko-Sokoke Forest are looking for a dynamic, out-going, initiative-taking person who is willing and up to taking a challenge. FoASF is a small conservation organisation working to conserve the Internationally important Arabuko-Sokoke Forest through conservation action (e.g. working with gov. authorities to survey illegal activity), community work (raising awareness amongst community members) and improving eco-tourism facilities for visitors at the forest.

Limietberg Nature Reserve lies in the Du Toitskloof mountains near Paarl,
forming a part of the greater Boland mountain range. The reserve stretches from
Franschhoek in the south, eastwards towards Groot Drakenstein, and northwards as
far as Voëlvlei dam, covering an area of some 117 000 ha. The terrain is rugged,
with steep kloofs and deep valleys. Du Toits Peak at 1996m is the highest point
within the reserve. Limietberg is an important water catchment for the Breede
and Berg rivers which flow through the reserve, and feed the Wemmershoek,
Stettynskloof, Theewaterskloof and Voëlvlei dams. Cape Nature is looking for two qualified Field Rangers.
