Responsibilities:
As a key member of the TNRF Secretariat, you will take a lead in developing and implementing an effective bilingual communications strategy and plan which will include:

External communications

working with programme officers and their working groups to develop regular policy briefs
developing a regular newsletter
working with colleagues to develop other dedicated communications materials as the need arises
developing TNRF's public image and public relations materials as guided by the Steering Committee
providing technical communications support to ad hoc advocacy and information campaigns
Internal communications

improving and facilitating communications between members, the secretariat and steering committee
improving the provision of services and information to members
developing and expanding activities and points of engagement for members on a demand-driven basis
Qualifications:
TNRF is looking for a hard working and exceptional professional who has the following qualities and skills:

A highly articulate and innovative communicator with excellent interpersonal skills;
Strong experience in developing and rolling out effective communications programmes;
An understanding of environmental, natural resource and governance issues;
Excellent writing and speaking skills in both Swahili and English;
Good familiarity with website design and content management;
Proficient experience in desktop/graphic design and publication content development;
A self-starter willing to take initiative, be self-evaluative and learn quickly;
Excellent organizational and time management skills;
Terms:
A two year renewable contract with a four month probationary period, based in Arusha. A strongly competitive salary and benefits package is available. The successful candidate should be prepared to start no later than 1st February 2008.

  • Limbe Wildlife Centre in SW Cameroon takes care of infant primates that are lucky enough to be rescued from the illegal pet trade. In November 2007, ACF, ERuDeF and Daniel Taylor organised an art workshop with 13 Cameroonian artists in the centre in order to raise awareness and funding for great apes conservation.
