ARCOS is a regional conservation initiative with focus on biodiversity conservation in the Albertine Rift, and has developed close collaboration with several conservation initiatives in the region such as INECN and ABO in Burundi; VONA and BEST in the Democratic Republic of Congo, ACNR in Rwanda, NatureUganda in Uganda and WCST in Tanzania. The mission of ARCOS is to enhance biodiversity conservation and sustainable use of remaining natural resources of the Albertine Rift ecoregion through the promotion of collaborative conservation action, awareness raising and biodiversity information exchange in the region.
The East African Wildlife Society (EAWLS) came into being in 1961 through a merger of the Kenya and Tanzania Wild Life Societies, both founded in 1956, and wildlife enthusiasts from Uganda. For over forty years, EAWLS has been at the forefront in the efforts for protecting endangered, rare or threatened species and habitats in East Africa. Currently, EAWLS is seen as a leader in building the capacities of community based organisations in the field of conservation. ACF and EAWLS have signed an MoU and will work together to develop the capacity of East African conservation initiatives in data and information management.
ERMIS Africa has a regional mandate to share knowledge, ideas, experiences, skills and strategies on PGIS and community mapping among development practitioners and local resource dependant communities. ERMIS Africa works with development practitioners and local resource dependant communities willing to integrate PGIS practice in building their capacities so as to secure their territorial claims, positive intangible culture and commonly shared resources for development and sustainable livelihoods. ERMIS and the African Conservation Foundation are working together in Mau Forest Complex, Kenya, on sustainable forest and wildlife management, mapping and environmental education.
The Environmental and Rural Development Foundation (ERuDeF), established in 1999, pursues the dual objective of conserving wildlife and protecting fragile enivronments in Cameroon. Founded and based locally in the small town of Menji in Western Cameroon, ERuDeF has established itself as an indigenious source of conservation expertise in both montane and the critically important rain forest biomes. ERuDeF and the African Conservation Foundation are working together on rainforest and great apes (Cross River gorilla and chimpanzee) conservation in South West Cameroon.
FOAI is a Colorado based non-profit organization [501 c.3.] which supports effective and established foundations, research centers, and programs designed to preserve and protect African wildlife, environment, and culture from the constant threat of extinction. Through education, monetary contributions and hard work, it is the goal of Friends of Africa International to raise the awareness of the public to the plight of the African continent and to prevent what has at times appeared to be its inevitable devastation. Friends of Africa International makes it possible for ACF to receive donations from U.S. donors who wish to make U.S. tax deductible donations.
The is African Dream project an alliance of individuals, corporations and institutions committed to optimising job creation, tourism and conservation in Africa. Based on the concept of Afrikatourism, the African Dream project is linking the splendours of Africa in a continuous network of tourism routes from the Cape to Cairo. ACF and the African Dream project will co-operate to advance the cause of promoting interest in and encouraging the conservation of Africa’s nature and cultural resources, work together in putting the message across to government and the private sector about the value of this objective and support each others visions and projects - developed in line with the twin principles of sustainability and community participation.
