GAMTOOS IRRIGATION BOARD IMPLEMENTING AGENT FOR WORKING FOR WATER The Gamtoos Irrigation Board as Implementing Agent for Working offers a challenging contract, ending 31st of March 2009 in the Kouga area. The suitable candidate will be required to: - Ensure that self assessment standards of Working for Water are rigorously adhered to - Monitor and evaluate quality of work done - Ensure that teams work according to set standards - Prepare contracts in a 24 months period for exiting into the business world - Promote goodwill between the Working for Water Programme and key stakeholders - Conduct self assessment audits on a six months basis - Ensure that project filing, administration and reports are completed and updated - Ensure that contractors administration complies with set standards - Ensure that monthly Project Advisory Committee meetings take place at project level - Will be required to demonstrate motivation, professionalism and diligence. Minimum qualifications of a suitable candidate: - The ideal candidate must be in possession of a valid code 8 drivers license. - 4 Years of tertiary education in an appropriate field would be preferred (e.g. botany, conservation, environmental science etc). - Good field work skills essential. - Experience with GPS mapping and good mapping skills will be a distinct advantage. - Good organizational and people management skills are required, with an ability to work independently and collaboratively. - Good oral and written communication skills in English (a second language will be an advantage). - Computer literacy in word processing (MS Word), spreadsheets (Excel), databases (Access), email and presentations (MS PowerPoint) is imperative. - Limbe Wildlife Centre in SW Cameroon takes care of infant primates that are lucky enough to be rescued from the illegal pet trade. In November 2007, ACF, ERuDeF and Daniel Taylor organised an art workshop with 13 Cameroonian artists in the centre in order to raise awareness and funding for great apes conservation.
