Cape Nature Conservation seeks a Community Conservation Manager in the Boland Mountain Area. The jobholder will give support to and manage community conservation development programmes in the immediate communities, and report to the Business Unit Manager. RESPONSIBILITIES • Project development and management in the immediate communities • Communication and networking with internal and external role-players and communities • Contributing to the socio-economic development in the rural/local communities (Community Based Natural Resource Management and Local Economic Development) • Youth Development and Environmental Education • Management of staff, finances and assets • Community Liaison • Involvement in and managing of volunteer conservation programmes REQUIREMENTS • Grade 12 and 3 years relevant tertiary qualifications • Above average interpersonal and communicative skills • A valid 08 drivers licence • Bi-lingualism • At least two years experience in community liaison and involvement • Computer Literacy RECOMMENDATIONS • The ability to speak isiXhosa and Afrikaans • Managerial experience in community conservation projects • Experience in fundraising and proposal writing skills • Facilitation, presentation and networking skills ENQUIRIES: Mr G Present (021) 851 1996 Applications to Human Resources Manager, Private Bag X29, Rondebosch, 7701 or fax (021) 659 3432 or e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it on or before 14 December 2007 Preference will be given to EE candidates. - Limbe Wildlife Centre in SW Cameroon takes care of infant primates that are lucky enough to be rescued from the illegal pet trade. In November 2007, ACF, ERuDeF and Daniel Taylor organised an art workshop with 13 Cameroonian artists in the centre in order to raise awareness and funding for great apes conservation.
