Post-graduate Opportunities - West Coast of South Africa
Applications are invited from students to do postgraduate (Honours, MSc, Post-doc) work on the West Coast focused on research at the West Coast Fossil Park site near the town of Langebaan. These deposits contain one of the most important records of terminal Miocene biodiversity in the world. At the Honours and Masters level we are looking for: (1) students of the earth sciences with an interest in applying sedimentology, stratigraphy and geochemistry to these unique and fascinating deposits, or (2) students of the biological sciences with interests in African fossil mammalian communities, mammalian osteology and taxonomy, and ancient diets and
paleoecology.  For the Post-doctoral position, applicants are expected to hold a PhD in a relevant discipline, and to have specialised in one or both of the above topics, preferably with a focus in the Miocene/Pliocene of Africa.

These studentships are supported by the African Origins Platform, and
offered as follows: 

Honours @ R40,000/year

Masters @ R60,000/year

Post-doc @ R120,000/year
