The Nature Conservation Corporation (NatConCorp), founded in 2003, is an exciting and growing environmental consultancy, specialising in a practical approach to environmental management. We are a strong team of diverse individuals, with good in-house administrative and operational support. We urgently require an additional person to assist with the diverse biodiversity conservation projects we are implementing. The work will involve fieldwork and report writing, as well as project administration. The projects are diverse, ranging from basic botanical and biodiversity assessments to a more specialist input, baseline data collection, vegetation monitoring, contribution to the compilation of Environmental Management Plans, and assistance to operational conservation activities where necessary. Some projects might require liaison with clients and landowners, and the attendance of project meetings. The suitable candidate is to preferably have a knowledge of or interest in the botanical diversity of the Western Cape. We would prefer a young nature conservator, new to the industry, with an enquiring mind and able to use his/her own initiative. The suitable candidate is also to have good/high standards with regards to communication, report writing and project administration. The suitable candidate should be in possession of the following: - A valid drivers license (code 08); - A National Diploma in Nature Conservation or similar tertiary qualification in biodiversity conservation as a minimum requirement; The suitable candidate should also preferably have the following skills: - Knowledge and use of a GPS; - Good computer knowledge; - Good communication and report writing skills is preferred; - Ability to use own initiative, and have an enquiring mind; - Be hands-on and practical. The salary will be commensurate of qualification, skills and experience, and will be contractual. - Limbe Wildlife Centre in SW Cameroon takes care of infant primates that are lucky enough to be rescued from the illegal pet trade. In November 2007, ACF, ERuDeF and Daniel Taylor organised an art workshop with 13 Cameroonian artists in the centre in order to raise awareness and funding for great apes conservation.
