CapeNature Conservation seeks a Conservation Manager at Cederberg Wilderness in the Cederberg Mega Park. The job holder will report to the Business Unit Manager. Core responsibilities: • Execute, co-ordinate and integrate overall management of the reserve including conservation, tourism, environmental education and marine conservation activities • The compilation and execution of all applicable management, operational policies, strategies, operational plans, business plan/s and ICDP’s (Integrated Conservation Development Plans) • Ensure that the management of all reserve activities is in line and coordinated with area-wide conservation initiatives’ plans and projects • Manage and implement all conservation and other agreements/partnerships between CapeNature and neighbouring landowners and other parties • Ensure public participation and communication with interested and affected parties with regards to the management of the reserve • Ensure effective staff management including support, training, motivation, management of health and safety aspects, and ensure co-operation and integration of all activities • Arrange for the effective maintenance of all the reserve infrastructure • Conserve cultural, historical and archeological sites on the reserve • Support and enhance research as well as experiential training • Ensure environmental law compliance by users of the reserve • Ensure expenditure control, asset management and income generation • Management of tourism infrastructure and activities including public-private partnerships • Monitoring and management of service providers and concessions • Provide high quality tourism services for visitors Requirements: • A relevant tertiary qualification • A valid 08 drivers license • At least five years of experience in reserve management including the management of tourism products • Sound interpersonal and communication skills • Computer literacy • Bilingualism in two of the three official languages of the Western Cape Province • Experience in a mega-park environment will be a strong recommendation • Fire Management & Alien Plant Management GENERAL: Accommodation will be provided on site at a nominal rental Applications to the HR Manager, PO Box 26, Porterville 6810 or Fax (022) 931 2913 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it on or before Friday, 15 February 2008 ENQUIRIES: Mr. J Rheeder Tel: (022) 9312900 Preference will be given to EE candidates. - Limbe Wildlife Centre in SW Cameroon takes care of infant primates that are lucky enough to be rescued from the illegal pet trade. In November 2007, ACF, ERuDeF and Daniel Taylor organised an art workshop with 13 Cameroonian artists in the centre in order to raise awareness and funding for great apes conservation.
