Only three hours from Cape Town lies a special nature reserve situated in the Overberg region, near the southern tip of Africa. De Hoop Nature Reserve is approximately 34 000 ha in size and one of the largest natural areas managed by CapeNature. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Facilitate the environmental education activities at the Potberg Environmental Education Centre in accordance with CapeNature’s stated strategy plan and policies • Enhance EE programs to accommodate the broader issues of youth development • Maintenance of EE facilities and resources • Provide logistical support for departmental conferences, meetings and training interventions • Provide assistance within the overall strategic youth development plan at the Potberg EE Centre • Reports to the General Manager, de Hoop NR REQUIREMENTS: • An appropriate three year qualification in Nature Conservation • In depth knowledge of relevant environmental education practices • A valid 08 drivers license • Physical fitness and ability to function in rugged terrain around the EE centre and on the rest of the reserve • Good interpersonal and communication skills in Afrikaans and English, Xhosa will be an advantage • Computer literacy, with minimum requirements proficiency in MS Excel and MSWord • Willingness to work over weekends according to a duty roster and to do weekend standby duties ENQUIRIES: Mr Hoekstra Tel 028 316 3338 To apply, send a concise CV to the Manager, P O Box 594, Onrus River 7201 or fax 028 316 4290 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it before 7 March 2008 • Preference will be given to candidates from the previously disadvantaged communities • CapeNature reserves the right to make an appointment |
- Limbe Wildlife Centre in SW Cameroon takes care of infant primates that are lucky enough to be rescued from the illegal pet trade. In November 2007, ACF, ERuDeF and Daniel Taylor organised an art workshop with 13 Cameroonian artists in the centre in order to raise awareness and funding for great apes conservation.
