Southern Africa: Project Managers, EcoAfrica

EcoAfrica is an organisation that specialises in environmental and social issues and processes in coastal areas. The organisation does considerable work in stakeholder participation and information sharing in coastal areas that are flanked by the Benguela Current, namely Angola, Namibia and South Africa (see: www.dlist-beguela.org) as well as the Western Indian Ocean (WIO) where it will soon be involved in rapid assessments and soliciting input from communities into a Strategic Plan for the WIO region.

EcoAfrica, based in both Tshwane and Cape Town, invites interested
individuals to join as full-time staff or become associated with the
organisation to address its growing workload. We encourage organised
and dedicated individuals who are excellent project managers and have a
reasonable understanding of coastal environments and social issues to
send in their CVs for consideration.

Candidates will ideally have a BSc Hons or Masters degree, and at
least 3-5 years experience in the environmental  and/or social sector.  IT
proficiency and good writing skills are essential.  Experience in
community-based fieldwork , particularly in coastal areas would be
advantageous, as would a combination of natural and social science
expertise. Opportunities exist for regional and international travel
and rapid career growth.

Closing date for applications:  Friday, 29 February 2008.

Candidates should be available to start  work in the next two months,
or earlier.

In November 2007, ACF, ERuDeF and Daniel Taylor organised an art workshop with 13 Cameroonian artists in the centre in order to raise awareness and funding for great apes conservation.
