South Africa: Part-time Conservation Co-ordinator, WESSA
WESSA Mpumalanga Highveld requires a passionate and organised environmentalist to enhance and co-ordinate the important work of ensuring good sustainable environmental practices in both government and private sectors.

Responsibilities:

Increase professional involvement in environmental issues and EIAs
Monitor environmental/development issues
Raise WESSA's profile and influence in the region
Applicants should have:

Knowledge of and experience with environmental legislation
A relevant tertiary qualification
Ability to positively and assertively interact with a range of people and organisations
Dynamic and self motivated individual
Experience in networking, financial control, fund raising and project management;
Own vehicle and a valid drivers license;
Terms and conditions are negotiable.

The position is currently part time but it is envisaged that it will become full time as soon as additional funding becomes available.

  • Limbe Wildlife Centre in SW Cameroon takes care of infant primates that are lucky enough to be rescued from the illegal pet trade. In November 2007, ACF, ERuDeF and Daniel Taylor organised an art workshop with 13 Cameroonian artists in the centre in order to raise awareness and funding for great apes conservation.
