South Africa: Gauteng Regional Eco-Schools Co-ordinator, WESSA/WWF

Eco-Schools is looking for a Regional Co-ordinator to co-ordinate the Eco- Schools programme in Gauteng . Please visit www.wessa,org.za for more information on the Eco-Schools programme.

Main Areas of Responsibility:
  • Develop a programme plan and strategy for the region
  • Co-ordinate the marketing and introduction of the Eco-Schools concept and materials to schools.
  • Organise and give workshops within the region to facilitate the development of Node Coordinators, teachers, and other partner organisations involved in the Eco- Schools programme
  • Align Eco-Schools activities and support to schools with the Department of Education's requirements in regards to the National Curriculum Statement.
  • Fundraising, administration and reporting related to the post
  • Encourage and facilitate partnerships with relevant organizations and institutions for the greater benefit of the schools and the Programme.
  • Qualifying Criteria
  • Environmental Sciences qualification or Educational Qualification (or related fields).
  • Strong administrative capacity
  • Knowledge of the Department of Education Curriculum Policies and the National Curriculum Statements
  • Ability to work independently
  • Good networking and communication skills
  • Valid driver's licence
  • Willingness to travel within Gauteng
  • Computer skills
  • Good interpersonal and team skills
  • A genuine desire to work in an NGO environment
