Uganda: Country to Get 2 Lionesses From UK

Kampala - KIBONGE, the lonely lion that was left at the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre after the 2002 demise of Salaamu, a lioness, will soon enjoy the company of two females from Paradise Wildlife Park in the UK.

"I have met the donors who were impressed by the facilities and management of the centre. With the donation of two females, the centre is likely to be more attractive," said Serapio Rukundo, the tourism state minister.

He added that they were processing permits for translocation of the two animals.

Kibonge, one of the biggest attractions at the centre, came from Kenya about a decade ago.

Recently, he underwent surgery after the veterinary doctors observed that he had a poor appetite.
