Tanzania National Parks is looking for a Veterinary Officer. Location: Any of the National Parks. Reporting Relationships: Chief Park Warden. (i) Qualifications: Holder of Bachelor degree in Veterinary Medicine. (ii) Experience At least two years experience in wildlife medicine and formal training in wildlife medicine capture and translocation procedures. (iii) Key Responsibilities Establishing a reliable and sustainable reporting and recording system of field cases. Investigating and monitoring disease outbreaks affecting wildlife in Park ecosystems in the designated zone. Overseeing research related to wildlife diseases in order to promote understanding of animal health problems in the Parks ecosystems. Conducting intervention and rescue of sick, injured or snared wildlife in the Parks in the designated zone. Liaising with the Principal Veterinary Officer and Park Ecologists, to provide veterinary expertise and supervision to authorized research scientists on animal handling, immobilization and sampling. Collaborating with Community Conservation Services and neighboring Veterinary Department in offering services to local communities. Conducting lectures for seminars, workshops and organized group training. Participating in planning, priotising and budgeting for veterinary activities in the designated zones. Preparing zonal veterinary reports on all cases/operations attended as well as collecting and analyzing field data for publication. (vi) Age limit: Not above 35 years of age (v) Salary Scale: TANAPA G.7 (i.e. TShs. 771,300 x 9,000 – 870,300/=) per month.
