Applications are awaited from enthusiastic, responsible individuals who will assist in the development and implementation of garden-based environmental education programmes for learners and teachers to promote the Harold Porter National Botanical Garden as a resource, as well as contribute to the integration of environmental education in the school curriculum. The prospective candidate must be in possession of a qualification in environmental education followed by 2 - 5 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in MS Office, analytical thinking, report-writing, problem-solving, planning and organisational skills are prerequisites, while a working understanding of the National Curriculum Statement would be advantageous. In addition, candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills, as well as a sound spoken and written command of English and one other official language. Responsibilities include: - facilitation of lessons in the Garden-based Programme - assisting in the planning, development, and assessment of lessons and resource materials in the Garden- based Programme - linking garden-based environmental education programmes with the Outreach Greening Programme effectively networking with relevant stakeholders (schools, communities, educators, funders, etc.) - assisting with facilitation and assessing teacher professional development workshops - assisting with facilitating and assessing indigenous water-wise gardens in schools and communities - ensuring compliance with Health and Safety legislation. SANBI offers an all-inclusive salary of R146 678,95 per annum. As this is a contract position, there are no additional benefits. Only candidate living in the Western Cape need to apply. - Limbe Wildlife Centre in SW Cameroon takes care of infant primates that are lucky enough to be rescued from the illegal pet trade. In November 2007, ACF, ERuDeF and Daniel Taylor organised an art workshop with 13 Cameroonian artists in the centre in order to raise awareness and funding for great apes conservation.
