Entebbe - Police in Entebbe have intensified efforts to hunt for smugglers who stole a baby Nile crocodile from the Uganda Wildlife Educational Centre in Entebbe.
The Officer in Charge of Crime at Entebbe Police station, Mr Julius Ogweng said they are using surveillance cameras to identify the person who abandoned the crocodile at Entebbe Airport.
"We are reviewing various camera recordings on that day to identify the culprit," Mr Ogweng said. He said: "We shall produce the culprit as soon as possible."
The reptile was found wrapped in diapers in a crate at the airport where the smugglers abandoned it after discovering that security was too tight for them to get the animal out of the country.
The crocodile is being kept in a quarantine area until the Uganda Wildlife Educational Centre improves security at its enclosure.
