The Nile Basin Initiative (NBI) has been established by the Nile riparian countries in 1999 in order to serve their common interests. Its vision is “to achieve sustainable socioeconomic development through the equitable utilization of, and benefit from, the common Nile Basin water resources”. To translate this shared vision into action, the NBI launched a Strategic Action Program which includes two complementary components: a basin-wide Shared Vision Program (SVP) and two Subsidiary Action Programs (SAPs), the Eastern Nile Subsidiary Action Program (ENSAP) and the Nile Equatorial Lakes Subsidiary Action Program (NELSAP). One of the eight SVP projects; the Water Resources Planning and Management (WRPM) project is seeking qualified candidates for the national IT/Database/GIS Specialist position. The National IT / Database / GIS Specialist will utilize technical expertise to handle projects for software systems and will serve as the expert in field of specialty to provide recommendations and conclusions of project tasks. The National IT / Database / GIS Specialist will report to the National DSS Specialist of the country of assignment. Duration and Nature of Appointment The initial appointment will be for one year, with a six-month probation period. Based on performance, the appointment can be extended on a one-year basis through the completion of the project. Qualifications/ and Experiences A B.Sc. or higher university degree, in Computer Science, Information Technology, Geographic Information Systems, Engineering, or other technically related field and at least five years of working experience, with recognized technical expertise in Information Technology; relational database technologies, including database development and Administration; and Geographic information systems. - Limbe Wildlife Centre in SW Cameroon takes care of infant primates that are lucky enough to be rescued from the illegal pet trade. In November 2007, ACF, ERuDeF and Daniel Taylor organised an art workshop with 13 Cameroonian artists in the centre in order to raise awareness and funding for great apes conservation.
