NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON THE ENVIRONMENT TO BE HELD IN FEBRUARY 2008: A
major national conference on environment brings together environmental
researchers, policy makers and practitioners to brainstorm about
conservation and management of the environment for sustainable
livelihoods, is on the cards for February next year. It targets
environmental managers, researchers, scholars, policy makers, donors,
local communities among other stakeholders. The conference will be held on
18th - 20th February 2008 at Kenyatta University under the theme:"Conserving and Managing the
Environment for Sustainable Livelihoods".
The main objective is to enhance environmental conservation and management
research among stakeholders through sharing of experiences and networking
globally. Members of the public are invited to present papers to NEMA or
Kenyatta University, that will form the sub-themes to be discussed at the
conference. The papers should be developed on the following topics: Coping
with Climate Change and its impacts; Environmental Pollution Control and
Management; Sustainable Natural Resources Management; Environmental
Institutions, Policy, Law and Governance; Environmental Education,
Capacity Building, Research and Extension.
The participants at the conference will be expected to register as
follows: Kenya nationals - Kshs.2,000, Students - Kshs.500; East Africans
- US$ 100, Students - US$ 10, Non East Africans - US$ 100, Students - US$
