Mauritius Marine Conservation Society (MMCS)
Mauritius Marine Conservation Society (MMCS) is a non-governmental organization that has been working in the past  25 years on environmental  education and preservation of the marine environment in Mauritius.  The MMCS is lobbying to raise awareness for the Mauritian marine wealth and the protection of marine mammals and coral reefs.

Since its creation MMCS has developed several programs to safeguard the ecosystem including enhancing underwater archeology, discouraging fishing with dynamite and gun submarine, setting up artificial reefs, identifying marine protected areas , data collection on strandings of marine mammals, identifying and protecting cetaceans, and creating educational games on the marine environment. Today, one of MMCS’ objectives is to regulate the practice of "Dolphin Watching" and continues its activities to study and raise awareness for the conservation of marine mammals.
