Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and Remote Sensing are geospatial technologies with important applications in many areas including natural resources, wildlife management and conservation. In Africa, many conservation organisations have started to develop digital maps and spatial databases. ACF wants
to provide expert advice and help in these areas - and we are looking

providing facilities for their use on the web or links through to organisations'
own websites.
Current applications include a wide range of topics in conservation and wildlife management, such as:
In the Science & Technical Corner Conferences section of our online forums, you will find the GIS and Remote Sensing for Conservation forum. Please feel free to share your research findings and experience, or to ask questions about geospatial tools and their application. For those of us who are not familiar yet with GIS and remote sensing, please use the index on this page to get more information. Click the hyperlinks to get an introduction into the general concepts, principles and components of GIS and Remote Sensing. The GIS & Remote Sensing Resources section will guide you to extensive information on the internet, including online tutorials, directories, software and spatial data resources.
