Angola: Three More Sable Antelopes Spotted By Environmental Experts
Malanje — Experts from Environmental Ministry said that they have spotted Wednesday three more giant black sable antelopes, bringing to six the number of the world's rare species, feared of extinction.

The environmentalists have located the animals following a research work carried out at the National Park of Cangandala, northern Malanje province.

According to the coordinator of sable antelope tracking project, Pedro Vaz Pinto, six including baby antelope, four female, aged 8 and 11 years old, and two male with 4 years of age, were marked with collars, a device aimed at monitoring the movement of antelopes at the Cangandala Park.

The official guaranteed that the tracking project intends to present to the public, in a first phase, 10 to 15 antelopes.

The conservation project of sable antelope is an action of Environmental Ministry and has the support of the Studies and Scientific Research Centre of Catholic University of Angola and the Government of Malanje province.

The operation of capture of black antelope is supported by the oil firm ESSO Angola, through the Association of Bloc 15, as well as by the telephone operator "UNITEL" and German Technical Cooperation (GTZ).
